You Have a Story

I love stories. Whether it's an original story of my own or someone else's, a true story or a made up one, I love the art of storytelling.
Movies, books, plays. Letters, poems, photographs. My favorite part of a story is watching the personalities evolve, the relationships between people unfold.
My first inkling for You Have a Story came about when I was trying to figure out what to do with my life. I had moved away from my kids and my comfort zone. Although I quickly felt at home in many ways in my new surroundings, I still felt lost in some ways.
I sat in my front room one day, looking out at bay, and said a few prayers. I said out loud, to whoever was listening, "Okay, I need some serious help, first of all. What the heck am I supposed to be doing??"
I considered myself a writer of sorts. I had written short stories, articles, and other bit and pieces of larger projects. I had finished one screenplay and had two others in progress, as well as two books.
I enjoyed interviewing people and putting the pieces of my research together until it fit. I was interested in learning different aspects of filmmaking like editing and working with the cameras.
I had signed on as a producer of a public access television show that didn't get off the ground. I was trying to negotiate the movie rights for a book, my vision of which I could touch, it was so real to me. But, again, soemthing wasn't working.
In spite of a number of false starts, I was beginning to see a pattern. I seemed to be on the right path. I just kept getting sidetracked. Until - just maybe - now.
"I want to tell stories!" I sat in my front room, a huge smile on my face. I had my answer. I just had to figure out exactly what do do next.
And then I said, "Thank you." Because I knew I had some help.
You Have a Story is about the stories that we each have. Each one of us has a story that is unique. Some are happy. Some are sad. Some are embarrassing. Some make us feel proud. Some of our stories we want to take credit for. Others we would rather attribute to our evil twin.
One thing is certain. Each of our stories is worth telling. And You Have a Story can help you tell yours.
This is part of it.
In January of 2008 I moved from a little mountain town in Arizona to the Central Coast of California to be near my mom.
What I didn't realize was that one of the most traumatic chapters in my life would turn out to be one of the most enlightening and rewarding.
More will be revealed...
