What You Have a Story can do for you:

Transcription of:

  • Digital files

If you are a resident of San Luis Obispo County:

  • A taped recording of your story can be arranged. 
  • Video recording will be offered in the coming months.
  • A question and answer format can be a successful method of telling your story. 
  • Interviewing is available.

Some things you might want to talk about during your free  30 minute consultation:

  • What is your biggest accomplishment in your life?
  • What is something you would like to accomplish but haven't yet?
  • Who is (or was) the love of your life? What would you like to say to him or her that you never said?
  • When was your proudest moment?
  • How do you show your children you love them?
  • What dream do you have that you refuse to give up on?
  • What mistake would you like to correct?  What wrong would you like to make right?
  • How did an epiphany change you in a way you never would have imagined?
  • What was a major turning point in your life?
  • Who is one person who has helped to shape your story?

  • Just an Audience

    My daughter gave me some words of wisdom recently after I tried to console her while she told me about a situation in her life.  I offered my opinions and heartfelt "Oh, honey" when appropriate.  I thought I was comforting her. 

    That wasn't the case.  

    "Mom! Sometimes I just want you to be the audience!" she said.

    Since that day, I have reminded myself that sometimes it's important to just be the audience.

    You Have a Story can be your audience.  No opinions given.   No notes taken.  Maybe you do want to tell your story, or a chapter of it, or a page.  Maybe only a few choice words.  But for some reason you haven't been able to up until now. Now you can.

    Transcription of:

    Average rate of $25 per 15 minutes of good quality audio. 

    • DVDs

    Average rate of $25 per hour.  Process is longer than transcription of straight audio. 

    • Handwritten or typed notes

    Average rate of $25 an hour.

     

    Pick up and delivery for San Luis Obispo County can be arranged.

    Free.  An 800 number will be available soon.  Until then, we can set up a time for me to call you.

Prices are always negotiable. 

Veterans always get a discount.

Members of Wounded Warrior Project will always get You Have a Story services totally free of charge.

A minimum of 10% of all profits will go to charity.
