You Have a Story

A single photograph can take me back decades.  Some picures I've seen so many times I almost feel like I was there.  Even if I wasn't born yet.

This picture of Jackie and Bo was taken right after they were married.  They met when he was a lieutenant in the Army and she was a Gray Lady with the Red Cross.

November 1953.  Thanksgiving on Okinawa and the soldier Jackie was dating had duty that night. He asked his roomate if he would keep his girl company and take her out to Thanksgiving dinner.  The rest, as they say, is history.

Jackie flew back to the States first.  Bo proposed via Ham radio but Jackie made him work for it.  Finally, she couldn't resist and they were married February 16, 1954, in San Gabriel, California. 

Jackie wrote in  their wedding album that they would live on "love and champagne."

A year later they welcomed a baby girl.  Kathleen, if she was being a pill, but usually Katie.  Or Kate. A couple of years later came Sally, and later Pete.  Their family was complete.
